Measuring for curtains giving you headaches?
Have you ever tried to measure for new curtains and really didn’t know where to begin? Maybe you aren’t quite sure where you would like your curtains to hang…the inside or outside of the window frame. Or how long to hang them.
I found this fantastic video that explains how to measure for various scenarios plus gives great explanations of how a valance, tier or panel should hang. Of course, you have all the control as to where you want to hang your curtains and there really aren’t any hard and fast rules anymore. In Europe, curtains can typically hang 6 inches above the window sill leaving a gap below the curtain. If you have a smaller window, hanging a tier curtain is perfect if you want to cover the entire window like a sheer drape effect.
This short 4 minute video will give you loads of info that will hopefully help you out when measuring for new curtains!
